A Toastmaster is more than just a chap with a red coat and a loud voice who bangs the table for silence.   He is there to ‘stage manage’ your day for you.   Whether you want an ultra-formal affair or a more laissez faire celebration, there are certain formalities that you have planned and that you want to happen at the right time and in the right order. From the moment you arrive at your reception venue until it is time for your evening DJ to entertain you, your Toastmaster will be on hand to guide you gently through all those ‘magic moments’ without your having to worry that something has been missed, or that you are running out of time.

Before the big day 

Your Toastmaster will meet with you several weeks before your Great Day to discuss details and any special requests you may have in order to offer you a truly personal service. He can suggest and advise, but ultimately the decisions will be yours as to how the day will run. Just because you have a Toastmaster does not mean the reception will be stuffy and no fun. Weddings are joyous occasions, and your Toastmaster will do all he can to heighten that joy. He will come away from that meeting with a timetable which he will work to, meaning that on the day you can sit back, smell the roses, taste the wine and enjoy yourself!  Your Toastmaster will work with the photographer and videographer to get the right people in the right shots at the right time. He will organise the reception line, your entrance into the dining room, toasts, speeches, gifts, cutting of the cake, and announce your first dance.

Etiquette, protocol & experience

Maybe you have a close friend or relative who you think could do the job for you. What experience have they had at running a reception? Besides, they will be a guest at your wedding; is it fair to give them all that responsibility when they want to enjoy themselves too?
