What has been rumbling around for some time now has become a reality. Chelsea FC announced yesterday that they have signed an equipment deal with Nike, which will be Adidas and will be the Premier League team's starting kit from the start of the 2017-18 season.
Adidas and Chelsea announced at the end of last season that the two parties have agreed to end their long-term contract prematurely, six years ahead of schedule at the end of the 2016-17 season.
Chelsea's new Nike equipment contract is the most valuable business deal for the club of all time. Beyond the fact that it is a long-term contract, no details on the value or the term of the Chelsea deal with Nike were disclosed, even though it was reported that the contract is worth about £ 60 million and runs for 15 years (until 2032 ). Chelsea Fc Shop is thus second in the league, behind Manchester United's Adidas contract.
Chelsea Director Marina Granovskaia said: "This is an incredibly exciting and important deal for the club. Like Chelsea, Nike is the world's foremost and best-seller. We believe Nike will be able to help our growth into new markets as well as helping us maintain our place among the world's elite football clubs. "
Trevor Edwards, president of Nike Brand, said, "Chelsea is a world-class club with a rich tradition and passionate fans across the globe. The partnership with Chelsea strengthened our leadership position in football. We're excited to help grow the club's global reach, serving players and supporters with Nike's innovation and design. "
The new agreement will allow the very first Nike chelsea new kit in July or August, once the Adidas deal has officially expired. Adidas was accustomed to introducing new chelsea fc shirt before the end of each season so that the new jerseys could be debuted in the last games of the season. This will not be possible with a new jersey supplier, which is why we expect the Nike Chelsea 17-18 jerseys to be released at the earliest at the start of the season preparation.
